The overlays must be laid over an existing floor and be fully supported. The strip floors can also be laid over battens - See below

FINGER JOINT End Joint	Finger Jointing Finger jointing is a means of joining pieces of timber, end to end, to make a longer plank. The joint is strong and shows as a faint line on the surface (See Photo). Each 1.82m length of flooring is made up of a several shorter pieces which are finger jointed together. Finger jointing has the advantage of reducing the number of visible ends matched joints and makes for easier installation. Please compare the 2 images. Number of Staves per Length - The majority of this flooring will have 6 to 7 staves per 1.82m length. A small proportion may more or less staves than this. Similarly a small proportion of the lengths may contain staves of 100mm to 150mm. Back to top
	Moisture Content Average moisture content is about 10%. Grading - The oak grading is similar to our normal grading, with perhaps with fewer knots. The maple is a different species of maple. It has different characteristics and so will be less uniform and will have more variation in colour than our unfinished Canadian Hard Maple.
